ISCA on Inerrancy

From on Apr 27, 2022

The International Society of Christian Apologetics (ISCA) was founded in 2006 with the purpose of fostering the scholarly defense not just the explicit doctrines of the Nicene, Chalcedonian, and Athanasian Creeds, but their implicit doctrines of the inspiration, authority, infallibility, and inerrancy of the Bible. The ISCA doctrinal statement is expanded by the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy “as interpreted by the official ICBI Commentary.” In the annual meeting of the ISCA in March 2022, the President, Vice-President, and some of the former Presidents of ISCA explained the how ISCA has inerrancy in its foundation and why it needs to continue to model top-notch scholarship today to show why inerrancy matters. Here are links to some of the recordings from that conference.

Evangelical Hermeneutics: The Danger and Draw of Critical Methodology

Dr. Bill Roach

In this first video, Bill Roach, the former President of ISCA (2018-2022), explains how epistemological subjectivity and the increasing popularity of critical hermeneutics among evangelical Christians are at odds with biblical inerrancy today.

Why ISCA is NOT ETS? Staying True to Inerrancy

Dr. Phil Fernandes

In this second video, Phil Fernandes, the former Vice-President of ISCA (2018-2022), and new President of ISCA (2022-202*), explains the differences between ISCA and the Evangelical Theological Society. The ETS did not maintain their grip on their commitment to inerrancy as defined by the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. ISCA so far has and needs to continue to do so.

Why The International Society of Christian Apologetics? A Panel Discussion

In this video, William Roach, Donald Williams, Dan Guinn, Phil Fernandes, and Win Corduan talk about the founding of ISCA with a commitment to the articles of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (CBSI). At 44:30, they each weigh in on the question of whether the CSBI needs to be revised today, contrary to a recommendation from the Gospel Coalition.
